Rookie Gladden stalked the pace while four wide in Saturday's $50,000 Babst/Palacios Memorial under jockey Edgar Paucar before rallying to get up in the final jump of the final race that will ever be run at Beulah Park.
Trained by Eric Reed, Rookie Gladden upset the field of Ohio-bred older sprinters at odds of 31-1. Candy Bites was a nose back in second, three-quarters of a length in front of Pyrite Green in third.
The running time for the six furlongs over a fast track was 1.11.89 and Rookie Gladden returned $31.20 to win.
Track owner Penn National Gaming is permanently closing Beulah Park and moved the racing license to the Mahoning Valley near Youngstown, Ohio.
