Romping debut winner Breakfastatbonnies has stakes options

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Progeny of Laoban impressed throughout 2020 on this circuit, and that continued in the early days of 2021 when the New York-bred filly Breakfastatbonnies rolled to an 11 1/4-length debut score Saturday at Aqueduct.
Despite breaking a step slowly, Breakfastatbonnies was hustled into contention by Kendrick Carmouche, and raced three wide outside of two other front-running types before taking charge turning for home and drawing off in the stretch.

Breakfastatbonnies completed six furlongs in 1:12.15 over a sealed muddy surface and earned a 78 Beyer Speed Figure.
“We expected that,” trainer Danny Gargan said. “She pretty much touted herself before the race. She’d been working really well with Ice Princess and she outworked Charlie Five O when they went together.”
Ice Princess is a stakes-winning New York-bred filly, while Charlie Five O, a colt, was a 6 1/4-length winner of a maiden $40,000 claiming race at Aqueduct in November.
Gargan said he hadn’t decided what would be next for Breakfastatbonnie’s. Options include the $100,000 Ruthless Stakes against open company Feb. 7 or the $100,000 Maddie May for New York-bred fillies on Feb. 20.
