Rogue Too looks to end long drought in Likely Exchange
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Stakes winner Rogue Too is looking to get back in the win column after a freshening. The distance and surface could both be beneficial in that quest as she goes in Saturday night’s $100,000 Likely Exchange Stakes, for fillies and mares going a mile on Tapeta at Turfway Park.
Rogue Too, trained by Doug Danner, is the most experienced horse in this field at the mile distance, with 12 starts, including six wins, a second, and a third. At Turfway Park, she has won 8 of 11 outings and has only missed the board once. In her most recent start at the Florence, Ky., track, she was third, beaten less than a length after leading in the stretch, in the Latonia Stakes last March. That was part of a winless six-start 2021 campaign for the mare; she was last seen finishing eighth under a $62,500 tag in September at Kentucky Downs.
Rogue Too is looking to get back to the form that saw her win six straight races in 2019-20, including the 2020 Latonia in her typical front-running fashion.
The 6-year-old mare is drawn in post 3 in this field of 10 under Rogelio Miranda and will likely have company on the front end. Fate Factor, on the rail, and Say Hey, in post 2, both scored their most recent victory with front-running tactics.
Out in post 7 is another contender who would prefer to be forwardly placed. Enchanted Nile has won 3 of 6 outings at a mile, but is making her stakes and synthetic-track debut. She is trained by Eric Reed.
Among those who would benefit if a strong pace up front does materialize are last-out winners Ylikedis and Alydiva. Ylikedis, a successful runner on turf, is another member of this field who has never started on a synthetic surface. She is coming off a victory under allowance conditions at Fair Grounds for trainer Ignacio Correas. She earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 83, the top last-out number in this field.
Alydiva, trained by Mark Casse, closed from 12th for a head victory last time out at Turfway, going a mile.
Along with Rogue Too and Enchanted Nile, the only entrant with multiple victories at a mile is New Roo, who is 4 for 11 at the distance. She was third in the 2019 Bourbonette Oaks here at Turfway.
