Rockport Harbor gets a rest

David Grening|Jul 01, 2005

Rockport Harbor, winner of the Nashua and Remsen stakes last November at Aqueduct, will be turned out for two to three months to allow his right hind foot to fully heal, and will be pointed to a 4-year-old campaign, according to a posting by owner Rick Porter on the Rockport Harbor website.

Porter said Rockport Harbor was evaluated by doctors at the New Bolton Medical Center near Philadelphia, and he decided "that his foot has not sufficiently healed.'' Porter said that the wires and patches on the foot would be removed to "allow his hoof to completely grow out.''

Rockport Harbor, trained by John Servis, went 4 for 4 as a 2-year-old. At 3, he finished second in the Rebel and sixth in the Lexington Stakes.
