Rockin With Energy prevails in Charger Bar Handicap
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLERockin With Energy, the winner of two minor stakes in 2024, won the richest race of her career in a thrilling finish of Sunday’s $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap for fillies and mares at Los Alamitos.
Rockin With Energy ($18) prevailed by a nose over 18-1 First Time for Wine in the 400-yard race. Ridden by Henry Lopez, Rockin With Energy was timed in 19.79 seconds.
First Time for Wine finished a head in front of 8-1 Curls Joyful Wagon, who was a head in front of Aj Born Runnin. The first seven finishers were separated by slightly more than a length.

Streaks of Power, the 6-5 favorite, could only finish ninth in a field of 10 after a fair start. She was beaten 2 1/4 lengths.
Rockin With Energy is trained by Paul Jones, who won the Charger Bar for a record sixth time on Sunday. Rockin With Energy, a 4-year-old filly by Parsons Rock, races for Jay Parsons and has won 6 of 14 starts and earned $264,223.
As a 2-year-old in 2023, Rockin With Energy finished second in the $900,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity. Last year, she won the $30,000 California Breeders’ Debutante and $30,000 Justanold Love Handicap.
Rockin With Energy was the fastest qualifier for the $193,400 Golden State Derby last summer, but finished fifth after a troubled start in the Sept. 7 final.
