Rock Your World has first work since the Derby; Belmont Stakes possible

Rock Your World, the Santa Anita Derby winner who was 17th in the Kentucky Derby on May 1, worked five furlongs in 1:01 on Friday at Santa Anita for a potential start in the Belmont Stakes on June 5 at Belmont Park.
The workout was the first for Rock Your World since the colt was the 9-2 second choice in a field of 19 in the Kentucky Derby, but encountered trouble early in the race and was beaten 24 1/2 lengths by Medina Spirit.
Rock Your World races for Hronis Racing and Michael Talla and trainer John Sadler.
Sadler said the official time was more of a clocking of Rock Your World’s gallop-out. He timed the colt through a half-mile workout in 48 seconds.
“It was kind of routine, nice and smooth,” he said. “We’re inching forward. Next week will tell us a lot more.”In other works, Smooth Like Strait, third in the Grade 1 Old Forester Turf Classic on May 1 at Churchill Downs, ran a half-mile in 48 seconds in preparation for a scheduled start in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile on May 31.
Soothsay, winner of the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks on April 3, worked six furlongs in 1:13.60 for an intended start in the Grade 2 Summertime Oaks on May 29.
The Sadler-trained Edgeway, winner of the Carousel Stakes for fillies and mares on April 10 at Oaklawn Park, worked a half-mile in 48 seconds for the Grade 2 Great Lady M. Stakes for fillies and mares on July 5 at Los Alamitos.
