River Downs: Hackendiffy draws off

Hackendiffy turned in yet another dominating performance in Ohio-bred company with a 7 3/4-length win in the Green Carpet Stakes. Hackendiffy ($2.60), under jockey Mike Rowland, held no more than a length advantage until the top of the stretch, where he drew off impressively. Forest Picnic finished second, three lengths clear of Southtown Slew.

In a race originally scheduled for turf, Hackendiffy covered 1 1/16 miles over a muddy track in 1:47. Trainer Bernie Flint said that Hackendiffy's next start would be either the Cleveland Gold Cup for Ohio-breds or the Grade 2 Ohio Derby, both run at Thistledown.
