Ritvo mulling plans for Fast Anna

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Kathy Ritvo and her latest star Fast Anna have returned home after spending the past two months on the road, where he finished second in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop at Saratoga and second again last weekend as the favorite in the Gallant Bob at Parx. Ridden by Irad Ortiz, Fast Anna earned a career-best 97 Beyer Speed Figure in the Gallant Bob.
“I was happy with his race even though he got beat,” said Ritvo. “Irad said he never really seemed to be comfortable, he never was able to really grab hold of that racetrack. You could see the track favored speed and seemed firmer near the inside, and what impressed me the most was the way he never gave up.”
Ritvo said she’d wait several days and then discuss her options for Fast Anna with owner-breeder Frank Calabrese. Their choices include a possible start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, or switching Fast Anna over to the turf.
“I know he’ll go two turns without any problem, and not only is he bred for the turf, he’s got feet the size of garbage can covers,” said Ritvo. “There’s no way he’s not going to love the grass.”
