Jockey Sasha Risenhoover, who has ranked as one of the top female jockeys in Texas, plans to ride at Remington Park when the Oklahoma City meet opens Aug. 20, said her new agent, Bill Castle. Currently, Risenhoover has riding engagements at Louisiana Downs and Prairie Meadows. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with her,” Castle said. “She rides a very smart race.” Castle also represents David Cohen, who is based at Saratoga, and Ramon Vazquez. Castle said Vazquez has upcoming stakes mounts at Saratoga and Mountaineer, and also is riding some at Louisiana Downs. He will base this fall at Remington. Risenhoover, who next month has a 2-year-old stakes mount at Prairie Meadows, won the first race of her career in Oklahoma in 2011. She’s gone on to win stakes with such horses as Terra’s Angel, It’s the Swede, Brave Daisey, Silvercents, and Discreet Smile. The stakes were not originally on the schedule for 2021, but track officials were hopeful the races would be able to be held this meet. The card will include a pair of stakes for 2-year-olds, a pair of sprint stakes for 3-year-olds and up, and a pair of turf route stakes for 3-year-olds and up. ◗ Owner and trainer Kim Oliver is the new president of the Colorado Horsemen’s Association.
