Right Approach nips stablemate

Right Approach swooped fast and late to win the listed Al Rashidiya Unfuwain Stakes at Nad Al Sheba on Saturday night.

Formerly trained in England by Michael Stoute and owned by Queen Elizabeth, Right Approach was the lesser fancied of an entry for trainer Mike de Kock, but finished with a flourish under Kerrin McEvoy to edge stablemate Surveyor by a head.

Trademark, a leading performer at Saratoga last summer, had to break from post 12 and raced on the outside in the early stages. He was third and well in contention entering the straight behind leader St Expedit, who set a blistering pace.

Approaching the quarter pole, however, Ryan Moore was asking Trademark for an effort, and he was only able to plug on at one pace, eventually finishing seventh in the 1 1/8-mile turf race.
