Rideau Carleton: Moore trainees triumph in OSS Gold Series
Trainer Dr. Ian Moore sent out Storm Shadow and Odds On Platinum to wins in a pair of C$140,000 Ontario Sires Stakes races for 3-year-old pacers of both sexes on Sunday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Trophy Taker (James MacDonald) put up fractions of 27 2/5, 55 and 1:22 4/5 in the event for colts and geldings, but Storm Shadow (Bob McClure), who had gone first-over out of third past the half, forged his way into the top spot midway through the stretch. In the closing strides Wikipedia (Trevor Henry) was charging toward Storm Shadow after swinging to the outside from third-over, but Storm Shadow had just enough of a headstart on Wikipedia to hold on by a nose in a 1:51 4/5 effort. Unrivaled Hanover (Jonathan Drury) collected third.
A Bettor's Delight colt bred by Tara Hills Stud, Storm Shadow is owned by R G McGroup Ltd., Serge Savard, Mac Nichol and Bolton Farms LLC. Storm Shadow, who was seventh in the North America Cup final, has five wins from 18 lifetime starts, has pocketed C$513,989 and paid $2.90 to win as the 2-5 favorite.

In the tilt for the fillies, Odds On Platinum (Serge Brosseau) blasted to the front and hit the quarter in 26 2/5 and would go on to click off the half in 55 2/5. Greatest Pleasure (McClure) was moving first-up from third as the half went on the board, and she was able to clear Odds On Platinum for command prior to the 1:22 3/5 three-quarters, leaving Pass Line (MacDonald) in the first-over position.
Greatest Pleasure turned for home first, but Odds On Platinum was brought off the pylons by Brosseau, and she rolled right by Greatest Pleasure on her way to a three length victory in 1:50 3/5, missing the track record by just a fifth of a second. Greatest Pleasure held second from Lightning Lizzie (Brett MacDonald).
Also by Bettor's Delight, Odds On Platinum is owned by Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Odds On Racing. She has a summary of 3-7-2 from 17 lifetime tries, sent her earnings to C$509,052 and returned $4.20 to win as the even-money favorite.
