Ride On Curlin may work Sunday

Ride On Curlin galloped about 1 1/2 miles Friday at Oaklawn to move closer to his first work since winning an allowance sprint at the track in his 4-year-old debut Jan. 15. Ride On Curlin was the runner-up in last year’s Preakness.
“We might breeze him Sunday, depending on the weather – maybe this weekend, probably Sunday,” trainer Billy Gowan said Thursday. “He came out of that [Jan. 15] race really good.”
Ride On Curlin rallied from next to last to win the Oaklawn sprint by a head, covering six furlongs in 1:10.40. Gowan said the horse remains a candidate to stretch back out to two turns Feb. 14 for the $100,000 Essex Handicap at Oaklawn.
“They got a good series here,” Gowan said of the handicap series that also includes the Grade 3 Razorback and Grade 2 Oaklawn.
** Double Ours, who won a Thursday allowance in hand at Oaklawn, will be considered for the track’s $100,000 Hot Springs on March 7, said trainer Brad Cox.
