Rich card closes out Remington meet

Stakes winners Cash Bonus, Suddenbreakingnews, and Uncle Brennie will meet maiden special weight winners from Kentucky and Southern California on Sunday in the $250,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park. The race for 2-year-olds anchors a card of five stakes on the closing-day program at the Oklahoma City track.
The $100,000 Trapeze for 2-year-old fillies at a mile drew shippers from trainers Wayne Catalano, Larry Jones, and Ken McPeek.
Purses for the five stakes will total $550,000. First post is 1:30 p.m. Central. The forecast calls for a high of 46 degrees and a 60 percent chance of showers, according to The Weather Channel.
Cash Bonus, who won the $75,000 El Joven in October at Retama Park, is one of two Springboard entrants from the barn of trainer Bret Calhoun. He will break from post 12 under C.J. McMahon. Cliff Berry will ride Calhoun trainee Better Than Magic, who drew post 9. Berry has long planned to retire after the close of Remington, and with the Springboard going as the 10th and final race Sunday, Better Than Magic is expected to be the final mount for Berry, the all-time leading rider at Remington.
Suddenbreakingnews won the $101,100 Clever Trevor last month at Remington, and Uncle Brennie took the $75,000 Sunday Silence in September at Louisiana Downs.
Esposito won his maiden at Del Mar in his last start Nov. 7. Battle Tap and Blue Wings each won a maiden race at Churchill.
