Ricetta makes first U.S. start in Saratoga Oaks
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Bill Mott is planning to have a runner in Sunday’s $500,000 Saratoga Oaks with recent acquisition Ricetta, a daughter of Camelot owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms. Ricetta won 2 of 3 starts in Europe, where she was trained by trainer John Gosden.
On Monday, Ricetta worked a half-mile in 50.04 seconds over the Oklahoma turf course in company with Antoinette, making up two lengths on that horse through a final three furlongs in 36.14. Antoinette also is nominated to the Saratoga Oaks, but Mott said he was not planning to run her in that spot.
Ricetta won her first two starts in a span of 14 days in June, one at seven furlongs, the other at a mile. Most recently, she finished third in a Group 3 going 1 5/16 miles at York.
