Rice's New York State Gaming Commission hearing postponed a second time

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – A hearing to determine whether the New York State Gaming Commission will take action against trainer Linda Rice for “corrupt and improper acts in relation to racing” has been postponed for a second time. The new dates are March 24 and 26, and April 14-15.

The hearings had originally been scheduled for December and then were rescheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday and March 3-4.

A spokesman for the gaming commission said the new dates were “upon agreement of the parties.”

The commission is investigating whether Rice received the names and past performances of horses in advance of races Rice would potentially be entering before races closed and whether she “paid substantial sums of money to NYRA racing officials” for that information. The time frame for these alleged actions is from the 2011-12 Aqueduct meet through 2015.

Rice is the leading trainer at the Aqueduct winter meet with 36 winners from 149 starters and her horses have earned $1,829,230 in purse money.
