Rice-trained stakes winners Sounds Delicious, Sower retired

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Linda Rice lost a little depth from her strong band of female sprinters as stakes winners Sounds Delicious and Sower have been retired.
Sounds Delicious, a 5-year-old daughter of Yes It’s True, will be bred to Bernardini, Rice said. Sounds Delicious compiled a record of 5-1-2 from 11 starts and earned $240,100. She won the Correction Stakes in 2018 and finished third in that race last Saturday. She was owned by Stud El Aguila.
Sower, a 4-year-old daughter of Flatter owned by Leonard Green, had a record of 4-1-3 from 11 starts and earned $299,890. Last year, she won the Jersey Girl and Pumpkin Pie stakes. She twice finished third in graded stakes. Rice said no decision has been made on to whom Sower will be bred.
“She had so much value as a broodmare – graded stakes-placed and a stakes winner,” Rice said. “They are in the breeding business. That’s the direction they chose. There’s been a lot of interest in that filly over the last six months.”
Meanwhile, Rice said that Startswithsilver, who won the Correction, will continue to race. No decision has been made on her next start.
