When Snide upset Friday’s fourth race at 28-1, it was the 165th training victory of 2025 for Linda Rice, establishing a record for most wins by a trainer in one year on the New York Racing Association circuit. Rice broke the record she already shared with David Jacobson. Rice officially won 164 races in 2023 after having lost an additional victory, recorded by Afleet Arlene in January 2023, when that horse was disqualified first for a medication violation. Jacobson won 164 races in 2013. "It's a remarkable record and I'm proud to be amongst the trainers here in New York,” Rice, who also sent out 5-1 fifth-place finisher Trango Tower in race 4, told NYRA publicity. “I was quite surprised, and I guess the public was too at 28-1.” Including the weekend, there are six racing days left in the year, so Rice figures to add significantly to her win total. “My team has done a tremendous job all year,” Rice said. “We get this done because of them. My office staff, the exercise riders, grooms and hotwalkers – they’re all working hard every day. We're always trying to continue to improve our stable and our results. Over the past 5 to 10 years, I've really concentrated on New York racing, and the stable has certainly improved along the way.” :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing!
