Rice to host Eclipse Awards

Kenny Rice, the horse racing and sports announcer, will host the Eclipse Awards ceremony on Jan. 21 at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Friday.

Rice has worked for NBC and ESPN since 1999. He was previously had been the sports director at WTVQ-TV in Lexington, Ky., and in 1996 won an Eclipse for outstanding local television coverage of racing.

"It's a wonderful honor and an exciting challenge to host the Oscars of Thoroughbred racing," Rice said.

The Eclipse Awards are presented by the NTRA, National Turf Writers Association, and Daily Racing Form.
