Revolutionary tunes up for Stephen Foster

Revolutionary, the Pimlico Special winner, worked four furlongs in 48.50 seconds Friday over the Belmont Park training track as he prepares for a start in next Saturday’s Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs.
Revolutionary worked in company with the 5-year-old Band of Joy, a three-time winner.
“He’s a pretty laid-back horse. We generally work him in company,” trainer Todd Pletcher said.
Revolutionary is scheduled to be flown from New York to Kentucky on Sunday. The Stephen Foster will represent Revolutionary’s first start at Churchill Downs since he finished third in last year’s Kentucky Derby.
“I think he ran well there. He seems to be in good form,” Pletcher said. “Churchill’s always a little bit funny. He seemed to handle it really well when it was wet. Hopefully, he handles it when it’s dry, if it’s dry.”
Pletcher recently welcomed My Miss Aurelia, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2011, back to his barn. Though she has not made a start for him, My Miss Aurelia was with Pletcher last summer at Saratoga. My Miss Aurelia had five works at Stonestreet Farm in Ocala, Fla., before moving to Pletcher.
“Looks unbelievable,” Pletcher said. “Fully matured and looks great.”
