Restless Rider has minor setback

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Restless Rider, whose return to racing was delayed Saturday when she was scratched from the Raven Run, will be out of training “a week or two” after grabbing her left front quarter in training last week, said trainer Kenny McPeek.
“She nicked herself over a sloppy track one morning last week,” said McPeek. “It’s very minor and far from her heart. I just want her 100 percent comfortable before we make any decisions about a next start.”
Restless Rider is a Grade 1 winner who won or ran second in her first seven races before finishing 13th as the second wagering choice in her most recent start, the May 3 Kentucky Oaks.
McPeek will be based in Florida this coming winter with a full barn at Gulfstream Park and a farm division just south of Ocala.
◗ A field of at least seven is expected for the closing-day feature, the Grade 2 Fayette on Saturday, with Bal Harbour, Mocito Rojo, and Tom’s d’Etat among the likely favorites. Churchill Downs starts its fall meet Sunday.
