Rescheduled Toboggan gets three more entrants

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The Grade 3, $150,000 Toboggan originally drew a field of six when carded for Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day card, which was canceled due to high winds.
Rescheduled for Sunday, the race drew nine entrants, with Captain Serious, Mewannarose, and Fabulous Kid joining the original sextet. The connections of those three horses had hoped to run them in an allowance race that keeps failing to fill.
Of course, Sunday’s card is in jeopardy of being canceled as well because there is a blizzard warning in effect through 1 p.m. Eastern Sunday for the five boroughs of New York and Long Island.
Dads Caps and Green Gratto, the one-two finishers in last year’s Grade 1 Carter Handicap, are the two main players in the Toboggan. Dads Caps is returning from a seven-month layoff, while Green Gratto is coming off wins in the Grade 3 Fall Highweight and the listed Gravesend.
Green Gratto, who drew post 2 originally, is now drawn in post 8. Dads Caps, who drew post 6 originally, is now drawn in post 4.
Alex the Terror, Heaven’s Runway, Sir Rockport, and Sam Sparkle were all entered back in the six-furlong stakes.
