Remington Park will put on a second running of the Sooner State Stakes in less than a month on Sunday. The 400-yard race for Quarter Horses is one of five stakes on the card, with the races all restricted to horses bred in Oklahoma. Purses for the stakes total $360,000.
The meet’s first Sooner State Stakes was run May 7, and Sam Crow won by a neck. However, the race was declared a no contest because of a starting gate malfunction. The stall doors did not all open simultaneously, according to a release from Remington. Sam Crow is back again Sunday and faces a notable newcomer in Grade 2 winner Rockin Disco.
