Repo Rocks probably headed to Stymie after 111-Beyer win in Toboggan Stakes

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Repo Rocks took his game to a new level Saturday, earning a 111 Beyer Speed Figure for his 8 1/2-length victory in the Grade 3, $150,000 Toboggan Stakes at Aqueduct.
The figure was the highest recorded by any horse through the first month of 2023. It surpassed the previous highest figure for Repo Rocks, a 99 recorded in an allowance win at Belmont in April 2022.
Repo Rocks is now 3 for 3 since being transferred to trainer Jamie Ness, who on Sunday reiterated what he said Saturday after the race – that the $125,000 Stymie on Feb. 25 is a race he would likely target for Repo Rocks.
“A number’s a number,” Ness said. “He ran great, but that’s probably what we’re going to do. All options are on the table, but I like the Stymie, the one-turn mile. That’s what we’re leaning toward.”
The Grade 3, $250,000 General George at Laurel Park on Feb. 18 is an option, but Ness said he plans to run Yodel E.A. Who in that seven-furlong race. Yodel E.A. Who has twice finished fourth in races in which Repo Rocks has finished second.
