Renewed Vows tries two turns in Peppers Pride Handicap

Renewed Vows will make a rare start around two turns Saturday, when she seeks to extend her winning streak to five in the $85,000 Peppers Pride Handicap at Sunland Park. The Peppers Pride is a one-mile race for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares and drew a field of 10.
Renewed Vows has won four consecutive races since August. The wins have come at distances between 5 1/2 and six furlongs, and the streak includes a pair of stakes victories.

* She is making her first start of the year after closing out her 3-year-old season with wins Oct. 26 in the New Mexico Cup Filly Championship at Zia Park and Dec. 7 in the New Mexico Racing Commission Handicap at Sunland.
* Renewed Vows recently was named the champion New Mexico-bred 3-year-old filly of 2014 based on her division-leading earnings of $207,910.
* Renewed Vows has made a pair of starts at two turns in her 11-race career. She was third by a length in the New Mexico Breeders Oaks last March at Sunland and second by a length in a seven-furlong allowance at SunRay Park last April.
* Renewed Vows, who is from the female family of the multiple Grade 3 winner Mr. Greeley, races for breeder R.D. Hubbard. Isaias Enrique has the mount for trainer Bart Hone.
Little Vidalia (Last 3 Beyers: 67-70-74)
* She was third to Renewed Vows in the New Mexico Racing Commission Handicap.
* Little Vidalia, the champion older New Mexico-bred mare of 2014, is making a rare two-turn start in the Peppers Pride.
