OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Dubyuhnell, winner of the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct on Dec. 3, returned to the work tab Tuesday, breezing a half-mile in 50.50 seconds at the Palm Meadows training center in South Florida. While trainer Danny Gargan mentioned three potential spots for Dubyuhnell’s 3-year-old debut, he said is “leaning toward” the Grade 3, $250,000 Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 11. The other options are the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers at Aqueduct and the Grade 3, $250,000 Holy Bull at Gulfstream, both on Feb. 4. “It’s not etched in stone, but I’m leaning toward the Sam Davis,” Gargan said. :: DRF New Year Sale: Save up to 50% on handicapping essentials - DRF Past Performances, Clocker Reports, and more! Gargan said he likes the timing of the Sam Davis to then run back in either the Grade 2, $750,000 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct or Grade 1, $1 million Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland. Both races are on April 8. Of Tuesday’s work, Gargan said: “That’s his first work back. He was nice and relaxed. It was a controlled breeze. He looks good, he’s doing good.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
