Remington: Willis goes three-deep in Oklahoma Futurity

Trainer Eddie Willis has three of the 10 runners set to start in Saturday night’s Grade 2, $325,000 Oklahoma Futurity for Quarter Horses at Remington Park. The Oklahoma Futurity was first run in 1947.

Willis has the fastest qualifier for this year’s 300-yard race in Swingin Debut. He won his March 9 trial in 15.37 seconds, driving to a three-quarter-length win under Jimmy Brooks, who will again be aboard for the finale. Swingin Debut emerged as the fastest qualifier after 12 trials run on a sloppy track at Remington. He will break from post 2.

Willis’s other starters are Royal Rythm, who closed to win his trial in 15.53 seconds, and Our Valiant Hero, a wire-to-wire winner in 15.61.
