Remington: Von Hemel collects 1,000th career victory

Mary Rampellini|Oct 14, 2016

Trainer Donnie Von Hemel won his 1,000th race at Remington Park on Thursday night, when Sweet Posse captured the fourth by a nose. Von Hemel is the all-time winningest trainer at the Oklahoma City track.

Sweet Posse is a daughter of Caleb’s Posse, who won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile in 2011 for Von Hemel. Caleb’s Posse also was a stakes winner at Remington. Other notable horses who have helped bolster the trainer’s win total at the track include his record three Oklahoma Derby winners – Clever Trevor, Queens’ Gray Bee, and Going Ballistic – as well as Mr. Ross, Alternation, She’s All In, Peach Brew, and Suddenbreakingnews.

Von Hemel owns a record 12 training titles at Remington.
