Remington: Repeat possibility

The top contenders in the $35,000 Black Mesa at Remington on Saturday will all be turning back in distance for the seven-furlong race. One of them, Bayakoa's Image, won the Black Mesa last year, one start after taking a two-turn stakes.

Bayakoa's Image repeated in that two-turn race, the Oklahoma Classics Day Distaff, in her last out Sept. 27. She set the pace and drew out by eight lengths.

Kevin Cogburn has the mount on Bayakoa's Image, who is trained by O.J. Osborn.

Other top contenders include Frilly Fun, who set fast fractions against male rivals two starts ago in a five-furlong race; past Black Mesa winner Devout Sinner, who was second in the Oklahoma Classics Distaff; and Slew Ann, who won the $35,000 Filly and Mare Turf.

* The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., has two stakes scheduled for Saturday: the $30,000 Kansas Oaks and the $20,000 Atchinson, Topeka, and Santa Fe Handicap.
