Remington Park track report

The family that trains together wins together. Such has been the case for the Here We Come gelding George Taylor, who picked up his fourth straight win at Remington Park on Monday. He is one of three horses out of the mare Miss Willa Will to win during the current meet.

All of the horses race for their breeder, Rash Barrett, and are trained by Ricky Gustafson. A fourth sibling, Percy Marie, has made one start at the meet and was fifth in August.

"They've all got different sires and all look different, but they've got some habits that are the same," said Gustafson.

Miss Willa Will's other winners at the meet are Belva Casey, a two-time winner at the meet who is by Slewacide, and Ulzana, by Coordinator. Percy Marie is by Caller I.D.

George Taylor remains the highest-profile member of the family. His streak started Sept. 10, when he won a starter race at Remington. From there, George Taylor won the $75,000 Oklahoma Classics Day Classic for the second straight year Sept. 25; a starter on turf Oct. 18; and a stakes-quality allowance Monday, under regular rider Nena Matz.

George Taylor will now be pointed for a return to turf in the $40,000 Remington Green on the Oklahoma Derby undercard Nov. 21.

Gustafson, 49, is in the midst of a strong season at Remington. He has won with 11 of 34 starters and is tied for fifth in the standings. He credits his owners and horses for the strong meet, as well as the work of his assistant, Chris Wendt.

Gustafson, a fixture in Nebraska, said he would like to spend more time racing in Oklahoma in the future after voters in the state approved slots-like gaming at Oklahoma tracks during the general election Tuesday. The development will increase purses at Remington.
