Mighty B Valiant, who is one of the nation’s top-ranked 2-year-old Quarter Horses, heads the list of entries for two nights of trials for the Grade 1, $1,039,400 Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park. The finale is May 28. The trials will begin on Friday, while Mighty B Valiant is to run on the Saturday card that has a special early post of 5 p.m. Central. There will be 10 trials each night, and the horses who produce the five fastest times from each card will advance to the finale. A total of 182 horses have been entered in the trials. The Heritage Place is the richest race of the meet at Remington. Mighty B Valiant will run in the eighth race Saturday. He is 2 for 2, and in his last start April 16 he overcame significant trouble at the start to win the $780,000 Remington Park Futurity for Oklahoma-breds. Mighty B Valiant was squeezed out by rivals on both sides, but came on for a three-quarter length score under jockey G.R. Carter Jr. “He might be one of the best horses I’ve ever ridden,” Carter said after the race. “He had the squeeze put on him leaving the gate and he came out of that.” Raymond Vargas trains Mighty B Valiant for You and Me Partners. The horse is by Valiant Hero, the same sire as Valiant War Hero, who set a world record for 300 yards last month at Sunland Park when he won the Grade 1, $253,004 West Texas Futurity in 14.59 seconds. Mighty B Valiant, who will go 350 yards Saturday, will break from post 3. The most accomplished runner Friday night goes in the eighth race. Zack of Hearts was the runner-up in the Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington on March 19.
