Remington Park: Eight stakes on Oklahoma Classics Night

She’s All In could be closing out her career Friday night at Remington Park when she seeks to win the $145,000 Oklahoma Classics Night Distaff for the fourth consecutive year. Following the start, She’s All In will be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect during the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky mixed auction Nov. 4.
The Distaff is one of eight divisional stakes for Oklahoma-breds – worth a combined $1 million – on the annual Classics Night program. Other major stakes on the program include the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup that drew defending champ Fifth Date as well as Z Rockstar, stablemate of She’s All In.
She’s All In became a millionaire in her last start Sept. 28, when she won an allowance prep for the Distaff. She was a short-priced favorite in the one-mile race, tracked the pace, and went on to a more than four-length win under regular rider Luis Quinonez.
“We just wanted her to get out and be in a spot where nobody could get away from her,” said Donnie Von Hemel, who trains She’s All In for her breeder, Robert Zoellner. “Luis did a good job, made the race kind of develop.
“She kind of eased up there and was very professional, and he shook the reins at her a little bit down the lane and she went on about her business.”
It was the 15th win in 37 career starts for She’s All In, and with the victory her earnings reached $1,024,789. The mare, a 6-year-old by Include, has registered seven of her wins in stakes, the most prestigious the Grade 3 Sixty Sails last year at Hawthorne. In more recent times, She’s All In was second to champion Royal Delta in the Grade 1, $750,000 Delaware Handicap on July 20.
Von Hemel said last month’s allowance race was a good lead-in to the Distaff, a mile and 70-yard race that She’s All In won for the first time in 2010. This year’s renewal drew seven fillies and mares, including Pets Superstar, who was second in the allowance prep, and Foreign Sultress, who won the $55,000 Distaff at Will Rogers Downs in May.
Watching what could be She’s All In’s final career start will be “bittersweet,” according to Zoellner.
“I’m excited to see this race and for She’s All In to move on to her next career,” he said in a press release issued by Remington. “I’m happy to see her go on in life, but at the same time, sad to see it happen. However, we’ve placed a decent reserve amount on her for the upcoming sale. If that isn’t met, then we’ll bring her home and keep her as a broodmare at our ranch.”
She’s All In will break from post 3.
Z Rockstar is considered one of the better Oklahoma-breds in training, but he lacks a win on his homestate’s biggest night. That could change in the Classics Cup, a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up. Z Rockstar is part of an eight-horse field for the race he finished fourth in a year ago. Others set to start include Ted’s Folly, a past winner of the Springboard Mile at Remington; Polka Joke, who won the $55,000 Classic at Will Rogers Downs; and Imahit, who won the allowance prep over Polka Joke, Ted’s Folly, and Z Rockstar.
Z Rockstar, a stakes winner bred and owned by Zoellner, will break from post 6. He will be making his third start since June, when he won a $62,500 optional claimer at Churchill Downs. Earlier in the year, he won at a similar level at Oaklawn.
“We’ve just got to put it together on the right day here in Oklahoma,” Von Hemel said.
