Remington mixed meet starts

Thoroughbreds will race on the same program with Quarter Horses at Remington Park for the first time starting on Friday, when the first mixed meet begins at the Oklahoma City track with a special 6 p.m. Central first post time.

First post time on Saturday is 6:45 p.m. and first post time on Sunday is 1:15 p.m.

The opening-night card will have nine betting races and two non-wagering races. The betting races will be five Quarter Horse and four Thoroughbred races. The two non-betting races are trials for the Grade 3, $12,500-added John Deere Oklahoma Distance Challenge. Trials were necessary when nine horses entered the trials; only eight horses can run in the 870-yard finals Aug. 10. The second trial includes Grade 1 winner Classy Shot Glass.

The mixed meet runs for 12 days and wraps up on Aug. 17 with the Grade 1, Remington Park Futurity and the Grade 1 Remington Park Derby for Quarter Horses.
