Remington: Honor the Flag now 2 for 2
Honor the Flag remained perfect in two career starts when she rallied to overtake pacesetter Wind Twister by 4 1/4 lengths in the $40,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington Park. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third to Proper Wildcat.
Honor the Flag ($15.40) settled in fifth early, while Wind Twister led the field through fractions of 22.09 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 45.30 seconds for a half. Honor the Flag overtook the leader in the stretch and increased her advantage to the wire, covering the 6 1/2 furlongs for 2-year-old fillies in 1:18.04.
Curtis Kimes rode the winner for trainer Donnie Von Hemel. Honor the Flag is a daughter of Honour and Glory and races for Cheyenne Stable and Don McNeill.
