On to Remington for He’s Comin in Hot

He’s Comin in Hot made a triumphant return to his home state Saturday night for a division of the $75,000 Texas Stallion Stakes at Retama Park. Now, he’s a candidate for some of the 2-year-old stakes at Remington Park, said trainer Bret Calhoun.
He’s Comin in Hot, who earlier this year won the Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs, set quick fractions in the Texas Stallion Stakes before going on to win by 1 1/4 lengths and cover six furlongs in 1:10.45. He earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 86.
“He’s going to Remington,” said Calhoun, who trains He’s Comin in Hot for Doug Scharbauer. “They have the 2-year-old stakes program there. He’s proven that he’ll definitely fit with the region’s stakes horses.”
Remington’s program opens with the $75,000 Kip Deville over six furlongs Sept. 27. It continues with the $100,000 Clever Trevor over seven furlongs Nov. 6 and the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 13. Calhoun said it’s still to be determined which spot He’s Comin in Hot might first target at Remington. He said the Kip Deville might come too soon.
“But we’ll see,” he said. “He’s a tough colt. I’ll have to see how he bounces back and see if he wants to go in that spot.”
He’s Comin in Hot’s stablemate Bravura, who ran second in the Texas Stallion Stakes, could go in the Clever Trevor, said Calhoun.
He’s Comin Hot gave Calhoun his third stakes win on the day last Saturday, following victories in the Happy Ticket and River Cites at Louisiana Downs.
“It was a big day,” said Calhoun.
