Remington: Beau Ravelle seeks to build on first impression in E.L. Gaylord Memorial
Trainer Scott E. Young is having an outstanding Remington Park season with 10 wins from 24 starters. Things could get even better Friday night. Young will send out Beau Ravelle, arguably the meet’s most impressive debut winner, in the $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial.
The Gaylord, for 2-year-old fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs, drew a field of nine. The race figures to produce starters for the $100,000 Trapeze, a new one-mile stakes to be run at Remington on Dec. 15.
Beau Ravelle made a splash in her career debut last month, when she won a maiden special weight by 8 1/2 lengths on Sept. 12. She rallied from off the pace to cover six furlongs in a quick 1:09.40. For the effort, Beau Ravelle earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 81.
Beau Ravelle is a daughter of Tiz Wonderful and will be making her second career start in the Gaylord. She drew post 6, and is to be ridden by Belen Quinonez. Beau Ravelle will be coupled with Honey’s Ryan, a seven-length maiden winner last out who is also trained by Young.
Young has a third starter in the field in Lady Hughes, another maiden special weight winner last out at Remington.
The chief threats include Dream S’more, the third-place finisher in the $100,000 Mountaineer Juvenile Fillies who has since won an allowance race at Penn National, and Bakken Baby, the third-place finisher in the $75,000 Prairie Meadows Gold Lassie who was a 12 1/2-length allowance winner last out at Remington.
