Relentless Dancer much the best in Louisiana Legacy Stakes

The Beyer Speed Figure advantage Relentless Dancer had going into the $100,000 Louisiana Legacy on Saturday night at Delta Downs played out on the track as the 2-year-old cruised to a 10 1/2-length win. X Clown finished second, 1 1/4 lengths in front of third-place finisher Richard Ronald.
The Legacy was restricted to horses bred in Louisiana. The seven-furlong race was run around two turns at Delta.
Relentless Dancer ($3.60) came into the Legacy with a Beyer of 82, which was between 12 and 66 points higher than each of the last dirt numbers put up by his rivals. He earned the Beyer for a maiden special weight win over 6 1/2 furlongs at Churchill.
On the move to two turns, Relentless Dancer stalked the pace set by Pickens, who took the field through an opening quarter in 23.50 seconds and a half-mile in 48.37. Relentless Dancer overtook that one heading into the lane, and increased his advantage to the wire while covering the distance on a fast track in 1:27.04.
Colby Hernandez was aboard for trainer Mike Maker.
Relentless Dancer is a son of Midshipman. He has now won two of three starts for the partnership of Paradise Farms Corp, Terry Raymond, Jana Wagner, and Jeff Gardella.
