Regal Conqueror should appreciate less ground in La Prevoyante

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – After a subpar showing in her last start, Regal Conqueror cuts back to a mile Saturday at Woodbine in the $125,000 La Prevoyante Stakes.
After a lackluster spring campaign, Regal Conqueror got a freshening and then captured the one-mile Ontario Damsel Stakes over Skylander Girl in her first turf start July 19. Regal Conqueror added front bandages last time out for the 1 1/4-mile Wonder Where Stakes. She encountered some trouble in the race before retreating in the stretch to finish well back in seventh.
“It ended up being a little too long for her,” trainer Darwin Banach said. “She’s had a couple of works since. She’s been training well. She’s happy and going about her business. Hopefully, she’ll run to that.”

Eurico Rosa Da Silva retains the mount on Regal Conqueror, who is owned by her breeder, Bill Sorokolit.
The La Prevoyante lured just five other Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.
KEY CONTENDERS
Regal Conqueror (Last 3 Beyers: 70-82-66)
◗ She took the Victorian Queen Stakes on Polytrack at 2 but has found her calling on grass this year. That’s not surprising when you consider that she’s a daughter of Canadian turf champion Sky Conqueror and out of Grade 2 Canadian Stakes winner Classic Stamp.
Zazinga (Last 3 Beyers: 73-71-60)
◗ The half-sister to Bull Page Stakes favorite Seffeara blossomed in her last two races going long on grass, which were first- and third-place finishes in Ontario-sired allowance company.
“I think she’s just matured,” said trainer Steve Owens. “She runs on anything. She can be up front or be close. If the pace isn’t too slow, she can tuck in and draw a trip.”
Cantbeatthestory (Last 3 Beyers: 71-70-40)
◗ The daughter of top Ontario sire Sligo Bay graduated second time out July 16, when she changed surfaces to grass. She went on to finish second as the favorite after a wide-closing trip in an Ontario-sired allowance going seven furlongs, a distance shorter than what she prefers.
Bilky Bluz (Last 3 Beyers: 71-56-57)
◗ She was supplemented for $2,500 by one of Woodbine’s hottest trainers, Kevin Attard, who has won two stakes in recent weeks.
◗ After ending up fifth behind Zazinga on Aug. 8, she notched an allowance win convincingly on Polytrack.
Call Her Karma (Last 3 Beyers: 46-57-66)
◗ Cantbeatthestory’s stablemate is a half-sister to the longshot 2011 La Prevoyante winner, Reconnect.
