Red Outlaw points to El Cajon Stakes

DEL MAR, Calif. – Red Outlaw, who remained unbeaten in four starts with a one-length win in Friday’s $201,000 Real Good Deal Stakes at Del Mar, will start around two turns for the first time in the $100,000 El Cajon Stakes for 3-year-olds over a mile Aug. 29.
“That race seems to make the most sense,” trainer Peter Miller said Saturday.
Red Outlaw won the seven-furlong Real Good Deal Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds by leading throughout. Ridden by Edwin Maldonado, Red Outlaw led by three lengths in the stretch and finished a length in front of Patriots Rule, who rallied eight wide into the stretch.
Red Outlaw races for a partnership. A gelding by Tribal Rule, Red Outlaw won the Baffle Stakes on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita in February and did not race again until the Real Good Deal Stakes.
