Red Mile: Unreasonable captures Glen Garnsey Memorial
?q=100)
Unreasonable overcame a shuffle with a stretch rally that carried her to a career-best 1:47 4/5 win in the $241,000 Glen Garnsey Memorial for sophomore pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at The Red Mile.
Driven by Marcus Miller, Unreasonable was in the two-hole behind Champagne Room (Andy McCarthy) at the 27 1/5 quarter but would drop back on the inside as Looksgoodinloulou (Yannick Gingras) took command prior to the 53 4/5 half, and then she gave way to fellow Ron Burke trainee and favorite Rodeo Drive Deo (David Miller) beyond that point. After Rodeo Drive Deo hit the front, that left Faze (Tim Tetrick) in the first-over position, and she would advance into a joint second at the 1:20 1/5 three-quarters.
In the lane Rodeo Drive Deo tired as being two-wide for over half the mile and the quick third quarter took its toll, and Looksgoodinloulou was able to rally back around her on the inside. However, Marcus Miller had been able to get off the pylons and into clear air with Unreasonable, and her 26 4/5 last quarter carried her by Looksgoodinloulou to tally by half a length. Found (Todd McCarthy), who was also shuffled back, got up for third on the pylons, followed by Faze and Baret (Louis Roy).

"She's just a really good horse," Marcus Miller said after the race. "She hasn't raced bad once this year, really. She's got a huge kick turning for home if you don’t have to use her. I didn’t think I'd get away that close going into the first turn, period. There was a big shuffle – I was pretty nervous in the last turn. [But I] got lucky and she was here today."
A Huntsville filly bred by Steve Stewart and Frank Chick, Unreasonable is owned by Erv Miller in partnership with David J. Miller. She has ten wins, four seconds and five thirds from 23 starts, has banked $623,367 and paid $24.26 to win as an 11-1 offering.
