Red Mile: Trotters showcased in Corbin Sires Stakes

Three-year-old trotters had their turn in a trio of $30,000 Corbin Sires Stakes races on Monday afternoon at The Red Mile. Fillies were split into two groups while colts and geldings went in one tilt.
Just For Trix (David Miller) won the colt and gelding flight by two lengths in 1:51 4/5 after leading through panels of 26 4/5, 54 4/5, and 1:24. S I P (Joe Bongiorno) rallied for second and Iwon't Backdown AS (Tony Hall) came in third.
A Trixton colt bred by Kentuckiana Farms and Perry Soderberg, Just For Trix is trained by Mike Murphy for owners James Wilson and Teri Jenkins. This was his seventh win, he has now earned $145,382, and he paid $3.58 to win as the favorite.
In the first section for the fillies, Eternal Lee (Andy McCarthy) yielded to sit in the pocket behind Date Night (Andy Miller) after the 28 second opening quarter. Date Night remained the boss to the 56 3/5 half, 1:25 1/5 three-quarters, and into the lane, but Eternal Lee rallied through the drive and was able to get by Date Night to tally by three-quarters of a length in 1:52 3/5. Date Night had to settle for second and Saffron Girl (Bongiorno) checked in third.

Chris Ryder trains Eternal Lee, a Southwind Frank filly bred by owner Murray Ferguson Jr. Eternal Lee has compiled a record of 7-3-2 from 19 starts, has now put away $310,138, and returned $8.08 to win as the 3-1 second choice.
Marge At Large (Bongiorno) led through a 28 3/5 quarter and a 57 second half in the other filly division, but was overtaken by a first-up La Lolita (McCarthy) on the last turn. La Lolita kept the top spot through three-quarters in 1:24 4/5 and continued to show the way into the stretch, but Fleurie (Peter Wrenn), who was fourth at three-quarters, powered home in 27 4/5 to take command and a two length victory in 1:53 2/5. Vogue (Dexter Dunn) was next, followed by Marge At Large.
Fleurie is by Muscle Massive and is trained by Melanie Wrenn for owner/breeder M T Pockets Stables. She made her ninth appearance in the winner's circle, pushed her bankroll to $314,505, and paid $3.58 to win as the chalk.
