Red Mile: Tactical Approach joins Kentucky Championship Series on Tuesday
Hambletonian winner Tactical Approach (Tactical Landing) takes center stage as the The Red Mile summer championship meeting moves into its fourth week with a Sunday-Monday-Tuesday schedule.
Tactical Approach will be in action on Tuesday in the second leg of the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings and has drawn post one. Trained by Nancy Takter for owners Robert Leblanc, John Fielding, Joe Sbrocco and JAF Racing, Scott Zeron will, once again, be in the sulky.
Also in the event is Point Of Perfect (Walner), a Hambletonian elimination winner and fifth in the final. Yannick Gingras will handle the lines for trainer Ron Burke and his Burke Racing Stable, Hatfield Stables, Knox Services and Jerry and Theresa Silva.
The nine horse field also includes Brodeur (Tactical Landing) and Ari Ferrari J (Walner), both with strong credentials coming into the action.
The week will feature 30 Kentucky stakes, highlighted by six $80,000 Championship Series events for 2- and 3-year-olds.
On Sunday, the 15 race program includes the second leg of the Championship Series for 2-year-old pacing fillies and 3-year-old trotting fillies in the summer sunlight, followed by 2-year-old trotting fillies and 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Monday's 16-race program.
Sunday's program features harness racing's only sub-1:50 2-year-old performer this season - the filly Geocentric (Sweet Lou) - as she toured The Red Mile oval in 1:49 4/5 on August 1 for Tim Tetrick, who was in the bike for trainer Brian Brown and owners Milton Leeman, Alan Keith, James Stambaugh and Joe Sbrocco.
Geocentric is undefeated in three lifetime starts and is facing four foes in her $80,000 test.
