Red Mile: Reflect With Me continues string of perfection in KYSS action

Three-year-old pacers competed in two $40,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes divisions at the Red Mile on Tuesday afternoon (9/1). Reflect With Me was an impressive winner in the girls split while Fortify posted a victory versus the boys.
Coming into Tuesday with a perfect record in four 2020 starts, Reflect With Me got away last in the field of five for driver Andrew McCarthy as Pettycoat Bluegrass took charge between the 27 4/5 first quarter and 55 1/5 half. McCarthy followed cover on the final turn and tipped Reflect With Me three-wide past the 1:24 3/5 three-quarter marker before uncorking a powerful late rally to win by four lengths in 1:52 3/5 over the early leader and Gai Waterhouse in third.
Reflect With Me ($2.10) is trained by Tony Alagna for owners Brittany Farms and Bradley Grant. The daughter of Captaintreacherous has earned $213,630 this year.
Fortify watched from the pocket as Caliber set strong fractions of 27 4/5, 54 2/5 and 1:22 3/5 over a track rated good. Caliber would feel mild pressure from the first-over favorite Catch The Fire and shrugged that foe off but had no answers for a charged-up Fortify in the stretch. Driver Dexter Dunn asked the Nancy Takter trainee for speed in the lane and he drew clear to win by 1 1/2 lengths over Caliber, with Sea Of Life far back in third.
Fortify ($7.80) covered the mile in 1:49 2/5 and picked up his second win in seven starts this year for owner Diamond Creek Racing, which also bred the winner as well as second-place finisher.
Racing at the Red Mile resumes Sunday with Kentucky Sire Stakes legs for 2-year-old trotters. There will also be a $5,571 Pick 5 carryover starting in race 2.
