Guided by driver Todd McCarthy, Prince Of Honor went first-over from fourth heading to three-quarters, went by leader Challenger (Ake Svanstedt) late on the final bend, and closed with a 27 1/5 kicker to score by 4 1/4 lengths in a life's-best 1:53 2/5. Carter Pinske handles the training of Prince Of Honor, a son of Walner bred by Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld, for owners Pinske Stables and David Hoese. Prince Of Honor has earned $47,500 and paid $4.28 to win as the favorite. Yannick Gingras and Andy McCarthy both posted driving doubles in the other Golden Rod Series finals. Gingras took the 2-year-old filly trot with Grande', the Chapter Seven first foal out of $2.4+ million earner Ariana G, in 1:54 4/5 for trainer Nancy Takter and owners/breeders Katz and Libfeld, and the 3-year-old filly pace with Fly Like An Angel in 1:50 4/5 for trainer Linda Toscano and owners The Bay's Stable LLC., Radio Racing Stable, Polger Holdings LLC., and Camelot Stable Inc. Fly Like An Angel is by Roll With Joe and was bred by Brittany Farms. McCarthy steered Unleashed Kemp to a 1:52 3/5 victory in the sophomore filly trot and also annexed the 3-year-old colt and gelding pace with Outwit Outrun in 1:51. Unleashed Kemp, by Wishing Stone and bred by Steve Stewart and Kemppi Stable, is co-owned by trainer Noel Daley in partnership with Deo Volente Farms and Patricia Stable, and Outwit Outrun is a Captaintreacherous gelding trained by Peter Foley for owner All Star Racing Inc. Admiral Hill had the most impressive triumph of the day in the freshman colt and gelding pace, as he led throughout and romped by seven lengths in 1:50 flat for Dexter Dunn. A Sweet Lou colt, Admiral Hill is trained by Chris Ryder and is a homebred for Tom Hill. Soft Spot (David Miller) charged home from third-over and bagged the 2-year-old filly pace in 1:52 2/5 for trainer Brian Brown. The victorious daughter of Nob Hill High is owned by Michael Robinson, Scott Hagemeyer, and Robert Mondillo. Robinson and Mondillo also bred her, along with Donald Robinson.
