Favorites posted just a one-for-eight record in the $50,000 Kentucky Proud Series finals for 2- and 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits on Sunday evening at The Red Mile. The biggest bombs were 89-1 shot Six Questions, a Crawford Farms-bred by Six Pack who broke her maiden in the 3-year-old filly trot in 1:55 1/5 for co-owner/trainer/driver Mike Simons and co-owners Dona McDonald and A P Racing, and 74-1 Perfect World, another Crawford Farms-bred by Captain Crunch who captured the 3-year-old filly pace in 1:51 1/5 for driver Cordarius Stewart, trainer Martin Woodard and owners Elizabeth and Jacob Roedl. Whiskey Wow was the only chalk to deliver the goods, as he set a demanding tempo of 26 2/5, 54 3/5 and 1:23 2/5 in the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot, but the closers couldn't reach him as he held sway by three-quarters of a length in 1:52 2/5 for driver Pat Curtin and trainer Burlin Brower. Another Crawford Farms-bred, Whiskey Wow is a gelded son of Crazy Wow. Elsewhere, Todd McCarthy came in a day before many other Grand Circuit drivers head to Lexington for Kentucky Sire Stakes action and was the lone pilot to post multiple wins, as he guided 3-year-old gelding Boomerang (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Diamond Creek Farm) to a 1:49 4/5 tally for trainer Tony Dinges and owner Marvin Rounick and 2-year-old Tactical Landing colt Deuce Pop to a 1:56 1/5 victory for co-owner/trainer Randal Jerrell, co-owner/breeder Atlantic Trot Inc. and co-owner Steve Stewart. Two-year-old filly trotter Keep On Gliding, a daughter of You Know You Do bred by Peninsula Farm, won her final at odds of 8-1, rallying to a 1:56 4/5 triumph for driver Geremy Bobbitt, trainer Jamaica Patton and owner Gary Achenbach and 6-1 Complete Stranger also came from off-the-pace to bag the 2-year-old filly pace in 1:53 3/5 for driver Atlee Bender and trainer Erv Miller. Eric Rosene bred Complete Stranger, a daughter of Tall Dark Stranger owned by Douglas Overhiser, Louis Willinger, D & M Trading II LLC. and John Schwarz Jr. Completing the champions was Prince Willie in the 2-year-old colt and gelding pace, as he worked out a second-over trip from post ten and romped to a 9 1/4 length decision in 1:51 3/5 for driver Joey Putnam and trainer Roger Cullipher. A gelded son of Lazarus, Prince Willie was bred by M T Pockets Stables and Victoria Howard and is owned by Ron Mersky. Due to all the upsets, there will be a $6,230.30 carryover in the Pick 4 (sequence starts in race six) and also a $1,385.30 Pick 6 carryover in the opener on Monday's program.
