?q=100)
Allegiant led at every call and won the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series event for 2-year-old filly trotters that was the featured race on Monday at The Red Mile.
Driver Scott Zeron fired Allegiant to the point from post five, and she would post fractions of 29, 57 1/5 and 1:25 3/5. Trainer-driver Ake Svanstedt swung Volcanic Blue Chip out of the pocket in the lane, and while she did gain to the wire, it wasn't enough as Allegiant held sway by a neck in 1:53 4/5. Special Talent (Dexter Dunn) checked in third.
Bred by Atlantic Trot Inc. and Steve Stewart, Allegiant is a Tactical Landing filly trained by Vernon Beachy for owner Ryan Smith. She has a record of 4-1-0 from seven starts, has earned $143,400 and paid $6.28 to win as the favorite.
In $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series divisions, the wins went to French Champagne (by Muscle Hill and bred by owners Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld) in 1:54 3/5 for trainer/driver Svanstedt and One World (by Muscle Hill and bred by Libfeld and Katz) in 1:54 2/5 for driver Dexter Dunn and trainer Lucas Wallin. Libfeld is the sole owner.
