Three-year-old trotting colt Mr Mouton won for the second straight time, while sophomore pacing filly Looksgoodinloulou rebounded from a tiring effort in $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series races on Wednesday at The Red Mile.
Mr Mouton (Dexter Dunn) led through fractions of 28, 56 3/5 and 1:25 1/5 on his way to a one length victory over Gimpanzee Dancer (Andy McCarthy), who put in a game effort from first-over. Mountcastle (Scott Zeron) gained from fifth to third in the final quarter.
Ake Svanstedt trains Mr Mouton, a Chapter Seven gelding bred by R. Kevin Greenfield, for owners Knutsson Trotting Inc., Little E LLC., Stolz Geiger and Jorgen Sparredal Inc. Mr Mouton has a summary of 4-2-0 from seven starts, has put away $143,713 and returned $2.38 to win.
In the event for 3-year-old pacing fillies, Unreasonable (Marcus Miller) cut the 27 second opening quarter, 54 1/5 half and 1:22 3/5, but Looksgoodinloulou (Yannick Gingras), who worked out a pocket trip, out-kicked the tempo-setter and 1-9 favorite in the lane, prevailing by half a length in 1:48 4/5. Unreasonable had to settle for second and Caviart Delight (Zeron) checked in third.
A daughter of Sweet Lou, Looksgoodinloulou is trained by Ron Burke. Looksgoodinloulou, who was bred by Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC and is co-owned by them with Larry Karr and Phil Collura, has won half of her 14 tries, has banked $384,087 and paid $9.92 to win.
