Red Mile: Impinktoo matches Plunge Blue Chip's world record

A day after breaking the world record for a 2-year-old pacer, the Ron Burke barn grabbed a share of another mark when filly Impinktoo became just the second 3-year-old trotter to go sub-1:50, matching Plunge Blue Chip's 1:49 4/5 standard.
Driven by Yannick Gingras in the opening event of the day, an $11,000 late-closing event, Impinktoo surged into the lead passing the 27 4/5 opening quarter, then got to the half in 55 and the three-quarters in 1:23 1/5. A world record seemed unlikely off those internal splits, but Impinktoo had other ideas, as she kicked home in 26 3/5 to put her name into the record book.
Impinktoo, who will be offered up as HIP 84 in Sunday's Lexington Selected Mixed Sale, is an Ohio-sired daughter of Manofmanymissions owned by William Walters, Joseph McLead, and Rtk Racing LLC. The Ohio Sires Stakes champion, she got her eighth career win, and she has now earned $413,610. She paid $2.60 to win.
Four-year-old trotting mare The Erm (Charlie Norris) just missed Ariana G's mark of 1:50 2/5 for the division in a later section of the same event, stopping the clock in 1:50 3/5. It was The Erm's seventh career victory. She is owned by Coyote Wynd Farms.
