The final Kentucky Sires Stakes prelims for rookie colt and gelding trotters and their pacing filly counterparts topped the action on Sunday night at The Red Mile. Go Dog Go (Todd McCarthy) won the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series test for the boys in 1:53 to tie Super Chapter as the fastest 2-year-old male trotter so far in 2024. General Kronos (Tim Tetrick) chopped out fractions of 28 4/5, 56 3/5 and 1:25 3/5 in the race, but Chat Room (Yannick Gingras) was off the cones from the pocket before three-quarters, and he was followed by Go Dog Go. Chat Room went by General Kronos with little dispute, but in the lane Go Dog Go was able to rally past Chat Room and went on to prevail by a length and a half over Blank (Dexter Dunn). Chat Room wound up third. Carter Pinske trains Go Dog Go, a Greenshoe colt, for breeder/co-owner Wiesman Farms LLC. and co-owner Al Libfeld. Go Dog Go has two wins and a second from four starts, has earned $75,000 and paid $5.34 to win as the second choice. In the Championship Series contest for filly pacers, Miki And Minnie (Dunn) drove on two-wide from post eight and hit the front past the 27 1/5 opening quarter. She was still on top at the 56 second half-mile marker, but McCarthy wheeled Duration out of the pocket after that station and moved to the point on the last turn. Duration got to three-quarters in 1:23 4/5, but Dunn had Miki And Minnie out and moving again in the lane, and she re-took control. Miki And Minnie had an easy time of it from there as she drew off to a two length triumph in 1:50 3/5 with Sweet Ballad (David Miller) and Champagne Room (Andy McCarthy) in a dead-heat for second. Miki And Minnie, a daughter of Always B Miki, is trained by Chris Ryder for owners/breeders Craig Henderson, Robert Mondillo and Lawrence Minowitz. She has a summary of 2-4-0 from six trips behind the gate, has put away $80,000 and returned $17.18 to win as a 7-1 offering. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Yannick G Kemp (Peter Wrenn) was a 1:53 4/5 victor in the single $30,000 Commonwealth Series clash for colt and gelding trotters.
