Red Mile: Favorites prevail in Corbin Sires Stakes finals

Amanda Stephens To All A Goodnight has now won four of her last five starts

To All A Goodnight and El Rey scored victories in the $70,000 Corbin Sires Stakes finals for 2-year-old pacers on Sunday afternoon at The Red Mile.

Caviart Marcella (Andy McCarthy) led at the 28 4/5 opening quarter in the tilt for the fillies, but she would be overtaken by To All A Goodnight (David Miller) and American Wisdom (Scott Zeron) before the 56 3/5 half-mile marker. Caviart Marcella then made another move on the final bend by going first-over, and she would forge her way past American Wisdom beyond the 1:25 three-quarters.

In the lane Caviart Marcella remained on top until mid-stretch where To All A Goodnight surged through a seam on the inside and hit the front. From there, To All A Goodnight dug in and was able to fend off a rallying Diamondsnpearls (Dexter Dunn), tallying by a nose in 1:52 4/5. Seashell (Devon Tharps) got up for third.

Trained by Carter Pinske, To All A Goodnight was bred by Kentuckiana Farms, and they share ownership of the Captaintreacherous filly with Pinske Stables. To All A Goodnight has won four times from 11 attempts, pushed her bankroll to $71,520, and returned $6.18 to win as the 2-1 favorite.

The contest for colts and geldings saw Bamboozler (Tony Hall) carve out fractions of 26 4/5, 55 2/5, and 1:24 with El Rey (Dunn) moving out first-over from third before three-quarters. Bamboozler kept command into the lane and dug in when called on, but El Rey surged in the final eighth and was able to get by for the win by a head in 1:50 4/5. Kaptain Karlos (D. Miller) was third after a pocket trip.

A Captaintreacherous colt bred by Riverview Breeding LLC., El Rey is trained by Tony Alagna for owners Brittany Farms and El Rey Racing. This was his fourth win from ten starts, he has now banked $75,750, and paid $3.56 to win as the 3-5 choice.
