Red Mile: Fannie Lipkowitz, Looksgoodinloulou triumph in Championship Series

Three-year-old trotting fillies and 2-year-old filly pacers were featured in $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series action on Tuesday afternoon at The Red Mile.
14-1 shot Fannie Lipkowitz (Tim Tetrick) worked out a second-over trip in the filly trot and closed in 27 1/5 to win by a neck over Woman Of Passion (Scott Zeron), who led the way through fractions of 26 4/5, 55 4/5 and 1:25 4/5. Tove Palema (Andy Miller) turned a pocket trip into a third-place finish.
A daughter of Greenshoe bred by Kentuckiana Farms and All Laid Out Stable, Fannie Lipkowitz is trained by Lucas Wallin for co-owners Shermay Stables and Wallin Racing Stable. This was Fannie Lipkowitz's third career win, she has now put away $100,150 and she paid $31.26 to win.
Trainer Ron Burke finished 1-2 in the filly pace as Looksgoodinloulou (Yannick Gingras) stalked stablemate Sweet Ballad (David Miller) through stations of 28 4/5, 58 and 1:26 2/5, then sprinted a 25 3/5 final quarter to go by and score a 2 1/4 length victory in 1:52 1/5. Sweet Ballad held off Champagne Room (Andy McCarthy) for second.
Looksgoodinloulou, by Sweet Lou, is a homebred for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Looksgoodinloulou won in her pari-mutuel debut after taking three qualifiers at The Meadows and returned $4.62 to win as the favorite.
Burke and Gingras also won both $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth splits for filly pacers with Accede (by Tall Dark Stranger, bred by Robinson, Robinson, Stewart and Daut, paid $13.46 to win) in 1:53 4/5 for owners Thomas Dillon, Scott Dillon and Craig Henderson and Rose (by Sweet Lou, bred by co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. with Jason Melillo, paid $3.06 to win) in 1:51 1/5 for co-owners Jack Piatt III and Larry Karr.

The Commonwealth Series tests for trotters went to Pisco Sour (by Walner and bred by Stewart, Black Creek Farm and Koskela, paid $22.34 to win) in 1:53 1/5 for driver Tim Tetrick, trainer Ake Svanstedt and owner Jorgen Sparredal Inc. and Drawing Rights (by International Moni and bred by owner Murray Ferguson Jr., paid $29.22 to win) in 1:55 for driver Dexter Dunn and trainer Chris Ryder.
There were also Kentucky Golden Rod Series events on the program. The paces were taken by Crescendo (by Tall Dark Stranger and bred by owners The Bay's Stable LLC., Polger Holdings LLC., Clay Horner and Little E LLC., paid $4.02 to win) in 1:54 4/5 for driver Scott Zeron and trainer Linda Toscano, Flossy Hill (by Tall Dark Stranger and bred by owner Tom Hill, paid $3.46 to win) in 1:55 1/5 for driver Dexter Dunn and trainer Chris Ryder and Bytheliteofthemoom (by Bettor's Wish and bred by Brittany Farms, paid $3.86 to win) in 1:53 2/5 for Dunn and Ryder, who are also the co-owners.
